Opening New Doors

Hello again from your adorable Writing Fisherman. I’m back!

To say that I’ve been busy through the Holidays would be to say the lake is wet. But, you’ll get no excuses from me here. What’s done is done and now behind me so here’s to looking ever forward!

Speaking of forward movement, I finally opened my novel that had been covered in red ink by my editor and have begun the work of fixing the mess I made. I’ve managed to redo a couple of chapters so far with a goal of getting it out sometime next month. (How many times now have I said something like that? wink wink)img_4041

Along with my novel, I’ve also begun my own podcast! Now I say, “My own podcast,” but my hope is to bridge two similar worlds; Writers and Readers. The show is called, “The Sample Chapter Podcast.” You click on the name for the link, or find it on iTunes or Google so far. The show highlights an author each episode with a short interview consisting of a few questions so the listener can get to know them, followed by the author reading a “sample chapter” from one of their published works.

As you can see, this is not another writing podcast but more of a hybrid writing/reading show. I’ll be focusing mostly on indie authors but I wouldn’t turn down someone from a small press. For that matter, I wouldn’t turn down a big name author either if they agreed to come on! Still, the point of the show would be to introduce Authors (new and seasoned) to a wider audience and, by default, Readers find new stories without having to search for something they might like. If you have an author suggestion, or are perhaps interested in coming on yourself, by all mean contact me at samplechapterpodcast@gmail.com. You can also follow along on my Facebook page by clicking here.

As of this post, there are two episodes up and two more recorded but in the editing stages. The funny thing is this shiny new project I’m on has me more motivated to finish my novel than I’ve been in a while! Aside from the fact I’ve started working on a podcast, my inner author is somehow less distracted by outside things. Squirrel!? Nope, I’ve got some laser focus when working on my novel lately and I think it has to do with the show. Remember above where I said, “published works?” Well that includes me! I won’t be reading anything of mine until it is published.

So what am I doing on here then? Sorry fans, I’ve got a novel to finish! Until next time!
